One Love Bowl

One of my favorite recipes from Rich Roll and Julie Piatt’s “The Plantpower Way,” is their One Bowls. The One Bowl allows for creativity, balanced nourishment, and is an easy-to-assemble lunch or dinner. One Bowl consists of five general categories, a legume, a grain, a green, a whole food, and a sauce. I was inspired to develop a One Love Bowl with my loves, Hilary’s Eat Well Root Veggie Burger and a new ROO sauce I have been enjoying. Ingredients: Handful of sprouted beans (legume) 2 Hilary’s Eat Well Root Veggie Burgers (grain) Handful of kale, sautéed (green) Beet and carrots, …

Shakti Bowl

Last week, I celebrated one of my soul sisters, Addie’s birthday. Addie and I often eat Life Alive, our go-to plant-based Cambridge restaurant. For Addie’s birthday, I recreated her favorite Life Alive meal, the Swami Bowl. In honor of Addie’s radiant strength, I have renamed it the “Shakti Bowl.” I highly recommend visiting Life Alive if you are in the Boston area (they also have locations in Lowell and Salem)! Check out ROO’s other Life Alive recreations, including, the Mystic Mountain Mama Salad, the Coconut Revive Smoothie, and the Helpful Healer Bowl. Helpful Healer Bowl

As you may remember from my Mystic Mountain Mama and Coconut Revive recipes, one of my favorite restaurants in Cambridge is Life Alive. They make scrumptious, nourishing meals that are primarily plant-based. I highly recommend visiting their restaurants if you are in the Boston area (they also have locations in Lowell and Salem)! My go-to warm meal at Life Alive is their Healer Bowl. I have recreated and renamed it the Helpful Healer Bowl. Anytime I find I need to reset my palate, this meal does just that. The zesty earthy, and nutritious ingredients help heal me from the inside-out. Ingredients: …

Kale Chips

Every health nut has their own kale chip recipe. I recently made kale chips for my parents and my dad was in love (it was his first kale chip experience). I promised him I would post my recipe, so that when I was not home, he could make them– here you go, dad! They are easy to make, yummy, and adored by many. Ingredients: 1 bunch of kale 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil Salt and pepper Nutritional yeast Recipe: Preheat oven to 350 F. Remove kale stems and leaves. Wash kale, dry it in a salad spinner, and move to …

Shamrock Kale Shake

On my morning run, I passed a McDonalds to see that they were selling Shamrock Shakes in spirit of St. Patrick’s Day. When I came home from my run, I made my usual green smoothie and was inspired to rename it the “Shamrock Kale Shake”– a healthier alternative! Ingredients:  1 cup of almond milk 1 frozen banana 1 cup of frozen mango A handful of kale 1 tablespoon of peanut butter In a blender, add the shake ingredients, and blend until smooth. Pour into a mason jar with a Cuppow lid. Drink immediately and celebrate the green goodness!
